Home Sports Men’s Tennis Gets First Win of the Season

Concordia men’s tennis won their first game of the 2017 season as the Bulldogs defeated Ottawa University of Kansas 6-3 at the Abotts Sports Complex in Lincoln.

Concordia is now standing at 1-5 on the season. In singles play, coach Joel Reckeway’s squad picked up four victories with South African native Thomas Greef winning in three sets (6-2, 4-6, 10-2). Senior Javier Moreno won in two sets (6-1 ,6-4),  along with sophomore Gabe Poling also winning in two sets (6-1, 6-0). Freshman Lucas Zoller rounded out the singles play victories with a win in three sets (1-6, 7-6, 10-6).

In doubles play, the duo of Greeff and Zoller defeated Makesha Tadious and Virgil Reed from Ottawa University 8-6. The tandem of Moreno and Poling also combined for a victory over Josh Hache and Raj Selvaraj from Ottawa, winning 9-7.

The Bulldogs now have a quick turn around as they face another KCAC conference member, Tabor College, on Saturday, Feb. 25. The first serve is set for noon in the Abotts Sports Complex.
