Home Sports No. 17 Bulldogs Win Homecoming Game

The No. 17 Concordia Bulldogs didn’t waste time in defeating Nebraska Wesleyan on homecoming night. The Bulldogs swept the Prairie Wolves 25-21, 25-17 and 25-22 to improve to 19-5 overall and 7-2 in GPAC.

Concordia had a back and forth first set as the Prairie Wolves came out strong. The Bulldogs opened up the first set with a 6-3 run to give Concordia a 20-16 advantage before closing out the first set.

In the second set, Concordia used efficient offense and great defense to create breathing room.

The Bulldogs went on a 5-2 run to give themselves a 17-10 lead. Concordia finished the set going back and forth for the next 15 points.

In the third and final set of the match, the Bulldogs outhit the Prairie Wolves .282 to .225.

Concordia had a 20-15 cushion at one point before holding off the Prairie Wolves by scoring five of the last 12 points.

The Bulldogs outhit the Prairie Wolves .253 to .153 for the match.

Senior Claire White led Concordia with nine kills for the match. Sophomore Annie Friesen had eight kills while juniors Tiegen Skains and Taylor Workman added seven kills apiece.

Junior Alayna Kavanaugh had 31 assists, six kills and three digs on the night.

The Bulldogs will hit the road to take on Midland University (22-0 overall, 9-0 in GPAC) at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 14 in a rematch from Sept. 23 when the Warriors swept Concordia in Seward.
