Concordia students participated in the Naked Man Run Wednesday night to celebrate the first considerable snowfall of the school year.

Participants stripped off their long-sleeve layers – and most their shoes – to make the dash across campus in the few inches of fresh snow.

Students set off running from Boaz Hall at 8 p.m., ran to the Son of Man, Be Free statue at the center of campus, circled the statue three times, made snow angels on the quad, and ran back to Boaz Hall.

The first person back received bragging rights.

Many students who did not participate filmed the event, which was accompanied by shouts and commotion from the runners and cheers and laughter from the viewers.

Freshman participant Miriam Ganoung noted that she enjoyed the action of the event despite the below-freezing temperatures.

“It was cold. I fell in the snow. But it was a good workout, you know?” she said.
