The Concordia track and field team traveled to Crete for the Fred Beile Invite hosted by Doane University on Saturday.

The Bulldogs had eight golds, six silvers and seven bronzes on the day. There was only one new national automatic qualifier at the meet for Concordia.

Sophomore Addie Reimer jumped into an automatic qualifying bid in the women’s high jump event with a 1.68-meter leap. Reimer won first in the event just ahead of Doane’s Katelynn Kratz who also hit the 1.68 mark, but on a later attempt putting Reimer in the lead. Senior Amanda Steinke won third in the event with a 1.65-meter jump.

Junior Mayson Ostermeyer won yet another pole vault event passing a 4.90-meter jump. Second place went to junior Evan Hill who finished with a 4.30-meter vault.

The last big win for the field team came from senior Abi Wohlgemuth who won first in the women’s weight throw with an 18.35-meter throw. Fellow senior Abigail Gerber finished third in the women’s shot put with a 13.61-meter throw.

Junior sprinter Adrianna Rodencal took a shot at both of the 60-meter events. She won first in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.56 and was second in the 60-meter dash with a 7.72.

Junior Kayla Kirchner took first in the women’s 400-meter dash with a time of 59.14. Senior Emily Loeske was right behind her with a 59.90.

Freshman Perry Chadwick represented the mid-distance runners for Concordia with a third-place finish in the men’s 600-meter run. He had a time of 1:25.83.

Junior Hannah Beintema won first in the women’s 1,000-meter dash with a time of 3:11.89. Sophomore Claire Beikmann was third with a time of 3:16.25. On the men’s side of the event, junior Trevor Kuncl placed second with a time of 2:37.63.

Concordia swept the podiums in the men and women’s 5,000-meter runs. Sophomore Trey Robertson and freshman Annaka Schlachter were the winners for each event respectively. Robertson had a time of 15:24.01 and Schlacter had a 19:49.83. Freshman Vaughn Hendrickson and senior Jack Ellis were second and third with times of 15:25.03 and 15:51.19 respectively. Freshman Lydia Edmonds and senior Ellie Jander rounded out the podium for the women with times of 19:59.57 and 20:19.08 respectively.

Finally, freshman Kennedee Canales placed third in the women’s pentathlon with a final score of 2,717 points. Her best event was a first-place win in the long jump portion with a 5.11-meter leap.

Concordia looks to their final home meet of the indoor season with the Concordia Indoor Invite on Feb. 7. A select handful of athletes will also head to the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational in Lincoln on Feb. 7-8. Next week ends the regular indoor season with the conference meet held on Feb. 14-15 in Mitchell, S.D.
