The No. 21 Concordia University football team extended its Great Plains Athletic Conference win streak to eight with a blowout, 54-0, win over Waldorf on Sept. 27.
After making the long trip out to Forest City, Iowa, the Bulldogs had a bit of a slow start, scoring just seven points in the first quarter.
The Bulldogs warmed up in the second quarter and put up 31 unanswered points, including 21 in the five minutes before halftime.
The second half was essentially a formality at that point, as Concordia scored 16 more points to bring the final score to 54-0.
Junior Peyton Atwood broke a school record when he kicked a 50-yard field goal, dethroning the previous 14-year record holder, Kenny Zoeller, by three yards.
Concordia achieved 422 yards of total offense, which broke down to 269 passing and 153 rushing yards.
Senior Gideon Stark took the majority of the Bulldog snaps and went 11-19 passing with three touchdowns. Senior Adam Van Cleave was the most-used receiver as he averaged 20.2 yards on his six receptions and earned two touchdowns. Senior Max Bartels had 73 receiving yards and one touchdown.
Junior running back Calvin Sassaman rushed for 125 yards and two touchdowns. All-American safety Daylon Henson recovered a bad snap on an attempted Waldorf punt, which put him in the end zone for a touchdown.
The 3-0 Bulldogs stay on the road and will travel to Yankton, South Dakota, to face Mount Marty on Oct. 4.
