The Concordia men’s soccer team couldn’t take down a hot Midland University team on Wednesday, Oct. 7 as the Warriors defeated the Bulldogs 3-1.

The loss drops the Bulldogs to 5-4-1 overall and 0-2-1 in GPAC.

Midland added to its winning streak and has won its last eight games.

The Warriors jumped out to a quick lead when junior Ali Sodal struck the back of the net in the 9th minute.

Concordia responded later in the first half with a goal of its own.

Freshman Kevin Andrade headed a goal in the left corner of the net to nod the game at 1-1.

Shortly after the Bulldogs tied the game, the Warriors headed a goal past goalie Mark Horsburgh to regain the lead 2-1 just before half.

In the second half, the Warriors found breathing room when junior Agustin Escobar drilled a penalty kick in the 59th minute to give Midland a 3-1 advantage.

The Warriors stunted any opportunities for the Bulldogs the rest of the game as Midland held on for the 3-1 win.

Concordia will be on the road for its next game as the Bulldogs travel to Sioux City, Iowa, to take on Morningside College (6-3-1 2-1-1) at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 10.
