The Concordia women’s soccer team started its quest toward back-to-back GPAC tournament championships with a 4-0 quarterfinal win over Briar Cliff on Thursday afternoon.

Concordia earned the fifth seed in this year’s GPAC tournament and had to travel for its opening round game.

The Bulldogs improved to 13-5-1 on the year with the win.

Concordia struck early in the first half when sophomore Jessica Skerston found the back of the net.

The Bulldogs couldn’t find another goal until the second half.

In the 52nd minute, freshman Maria Deeter scored to give the Bulldogs a little breathing room with a 2-0 lead.

Eighteen minutes later, Deeter found her name in the scoring column again as she gave the Bulldogs a 3-0 lead.

At the 87:36 mark, freshman Ashley Martin put the finishing touches on the Bulldog’s win as she scored the fourth and final goal of the game.

Concordia will have to travel again for its semifinal matchup against first-seeded Hastings College at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 10.
