The Concordia volleyball team faced the No. 16 Doane University Tigers in Walz Arena on Wednesday, Oct 19 and fell 3-0 (25-12, 25-14, 25-16), on Concordia’s Pink-Out Night, an event that supports those affected by breast cancer.

Senior setter Alayna Kavanaugh led the battle by assisting with 12 kills, but it was not enough to stop Doane’s attack.

The Bulldogs came into the match  11-15 overall and 3-7 in conference. The Tigers came into the game with a 19-5 overall record and an 8-3 record throughout the GPAC.

“We lost to Doane a few weeks ago in five sets, and we were ready to beat them,” Kavanaugh said. “We just didn’t take care of our side the way we needed to.”

Doane outside hitter Shelbi Mlynczak lead the Tigers with a game-high 13 kills on the evening.

“There were a lot of things that attributed to the loss against Doane,” Kavanaugh said.

“We need to take care of things on our side. We need to have consistent mental toughness. We have a few games left and need to make them count.”

The Bulldogs had a week off and returned to action in Omaha to take on the College of Saint Mary on Wednesday, Oct. 26.
