by Garrett Suchanek

The Concordia women’s soccer team got back on the right track with a 3-0 win over GPAC opponent Doane on Wednesday, Oct. 21.

The Bulldogs improved to 9-5-1 overall and 3-4-1 in GPAC.

Concordia used a flurry of goals at the end of the first half to down Doane.

After 41 minutes of scoreless play, the Bulldogs finally found the back of the net, not once, not twice, but three times.

In the final four minutes of the half, Concordia collected goals from sophomore Esther Soenksen, freshman Ashley Martin and sophomore Jeannelle Condame to give the Bulldogs a 3-0 lead.

Concordia continued its aggressive play into the second half, but was unable to tack on any more goals.

However, Bulldog goalie, junior Chrissy Lind, ensured that the three first-half goals were enough.

Lind collected a pair of saves in the first half along with three more in the second half and posted another shutout for Concordia.

The Bulldogs held a 22-13 shot advantage for the game and put 16 shots on goal compared to Doane’s five shots on goal.

Concordia will travel for the final time for the regular season as they head to Mitchell, South Dakota, to face Dakota Wesleyan at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 24.
